MuslimARC is a fast-growing and dynamic human rights education organization that serves to educate and raise awareness on issues of racial justice in the Muslim community and beyond. Our organization is in its growth phase and is seeking a passionate leader who shares the same values of MuslimARC of anti-racism and human rights, a leader who will work with and support the Executive Director and the MuslimARC team in successfully expanding the organization in this new phase. We are looking for a fast-paced and collaborative individual who has a deep understanding of the Muslim community and its racially and ethnically diverse members is passionate about fostering an inclusive work environment and is enthusiastic about elevating the organization’s impact on racial justice through building and executing the best practices for the Operations Department.

POSITION SUMMARY

An excellent Operations Manager has the ability to lead and motivate. They have great communication skills and take a holistic approach to manage the organization’s operations. As MuslimARC’s Operations Manager (OM), you will plan and execute community outreach programming and campaigns including, but not limited to, membership recruitment and retention, and MuslimARC’s fee-for-service offerings. The OM will have overall responsibility for MuslimARC’s day-to-day and long-term operations, and ensure they are in alignment with MuslimARC’s mission and strategic goals. The OM will develop deep knowledge of the field, core programs, operations, and business plans. In addition, the OM will coordinate with the Executive Director (ED) and work with the MuslimARC Board of Directors (BOD) to keep them abreast of strategies and challenges. The OM drives the overall life and mission of the organization by managing the day-to-day operations and ensuring coordination of structures and resources to meet the mission of MuslimARC, and objectives delineated by the ED and BOD. The Operations Manager will work alongside the ED to strategize and operationalize all MuslimARC’s efforts, which center on the elevation of marginalized communities. The position primarily encompasses project management, strategic planning, and nonprofit operations work. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Management

 

  1. Operationalizes organizational goals and develops/oversees work plans for staff. Works closely with Executive Director to facilitate the strategic planning process 
  2. Establishes and maintains quantitative and qualitative systems and metrics for organization-wide and personnel performance, and works diligently to propel the organization and its personnel toward success in those measures. Uses sound judgment in the review of systems and metrics and apprises Executive Director and Board of Directors of relevant insights once gleaned
  3. Manages and fine-tunes MuslimARC’s project management system and customer relationship management system. Develops and tracks system for evaluating the impact of organizational efforts
  4. Leads efforts for executing community-based events, including meticulous and thoughtful planning and coordination with involved parties in advance, ensuring seamless execution of all elements

Leadership

  1. Leads weekly employee and/or planning meetings to ensure workforce communication and understanding of operational updates and daily goals
  2. Assists Executive Director with office hiring/interview processes. Develops and facilitates the onboarding process for staff, contractors and volunteers and coordinates staff development and training
  3. Plan and review compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  4. Support fundraising efforts, liaise with philanthropic funders and partners through grant writing and development efforts 

Operations

  1. Review and approve all operational invoices and ensure they are submitted for payment to Executive Director
  2. Manage relationships with key operations vendors
  3. Collaborates closely with Executive Director and Finance team to track revenue and expenses and review budget
  4. Drive the client intake process and understand partner needs for engagements with the organization
  5. Communicate customer issues with the operations team and devise ways of improving the customer experience, including resolving problems and complaints

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Strong data analysis & interpretation skills,
  • 3-5 years of successful experience in managing a nonprofit is mandatory
  • Proven track record of developing and understanding the program and/or organizational budgets
  • Extraordinary attention to detail and experience with organizational, state, and federal grants policies and procedures
  • Thrives in fast-paced settings
  • Strong organization and time management, coupled with the ability to comply with multiple deliverables timelines
  • Possesses the capability to manage individual and team projects.
  • Strong presentation and networking skills
  • Commitment to MuslimARC’s core values, including experience working with diverse ethnic, religious, and racial communities
  • Grant writing and fundraising experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of donor data management systems; experience with NationBuilder a plus
  • Experience working with Muslim communities preferred

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Project Management, English, Journalism, Communications, or related field required
  • Master’s Degree preferred
